The name of Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain R. Hugh 813 (ATCC 9027) was changed to Pseudomonas paraeruginosa. This change is in response to phylogenomic and comparative genomic studies performed by Rudra et al. that identified two distinct clades of P. aeruginosa. Strains in Clade-2 were transferred to the novel species P. paraeruginosa with ATCC 9027 designated as the type strain.

Handling procedure
Open vial according to enclosed instructions.
Using a single tube of #3 broth (5 to 6 mL), withdraw approximately 0.5 to 1.0 mL with a Pasteur or 1.0 mL pipette. Rehydrate the entire pellet.
Aseptically transfer this aliquot back into the broth tube. Mix well.
Use several drops of the suspension to inoculate a #3 agar slant and/or plate.
Incubate all tubes and plate at 37°C for 24 hours.
Handling notes
Both fluorescein and pyocyanin pigments are produced. Purified genomic DNA of this strain is available (ATCC 9027D-5, ATCC 9027DQ). This strain is available as Certified Reference Material (ATCC CRM-9027). Additional information on this culture is available on the ATCC

The high CFU kits comprise five vials of an ISO 17034 reference material and five vials of rehydration buffer. Each cryopreserved pellet provides reference cultures with 107-108 CFU per vial.
